It was coming and it was announced loud and clear. The gorgeous all-new BMW 3-Series got unveiled today and it was wrapped off by none other than the cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar who is now the brand ambassador of the car.
The new 3-Series is launched in two Design Schemes
- Luxury Line – Luxury line is more stylish and comes with exclusive luxurious features.
- Sports Line – Celebrates the rush of adrenalin and possesses sporty styling and interiors
This is the sixth generation of the successful car to have made way. The new BMW 3-Series is available in both diesel and petrol variants. New 3-Series comes as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) and assembled at BMW’s Chennai plant. Deliveries of the car would start from this month only across the country.
New 3-Series Engine:
The new 3-Series is powered by a 1995cc diesel engine which is capable of producing 184hp at 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 380Nm between 1750 and 2750 rpm.
The petrol motor is 1997cc in size and is capable of producing 245hp at 5000-6500 rpm and a peak torque of 350Nm between 1250 to 4800 rpm.
Transmission duties are performed by an all new 8-speed Automatic gearbox

- New 3-Series is 93mm longer and has a 50mm larger wheelbase.
- Extra legroom for the rear passengers
- 14mm extra knee room and 8 mm extra headroom for passengers
- Trunk luggage capacity increased by 20mm to 480 liters
- The cockpit is not angled seven degrees towards the driver to help get all the controls more accessible
- Front seats (both) are electrically adjustable
- The BMW iDrive (on-board Driver Information System) has a 6.5 inch high resolution display. Also on offer are BMW Radio Professional. Both these feature as standard in the new 3-Series
- The 320d Luxury Plus and 328i Sports Line feature an 8.8inch high resolution display with BMW Navigation Professional (Integrated GPS) and rear view camera
