The time seems near for one of the biggest launches of the coming year for Tata. Pune based Tata Motors has announced the commencement of online bookings for the Bolt, their new hatchback.

Bolt was showcased for the first time just days before the Auto Expo and it has attracted a decent amount of interest so far. You can book yourself a brand new Bolt by filling in your details here. The booking amount is Rs 11,000. The official release doesn’t mention what will be the case if you decide to cancel your booking later on, after seeing the car or driving it…

This means that its launch is also just a few days away, most probably sometime next month. Tata is terming Bolt as the second all-new product under the Horizonext philosophy, but we are not sure if ‘all-new’ is the right term for the car which essentially looks like a bettered Vista!

Just like Zest, Bolt will feature three power modes, Sport, City and Eco. The 1.2 L Revotron petrol mill, one of the few turbocharged petrol mills in the segment, claims the best in class power figures of 90PS with the torque curve peaking in at 140 Nm. So, this also confirms that, against what was promoted earlier, Bolt will be available in the 90PS version only (like Zest).

The diesel variant gets the 75 PS version of the 1.3L Multijet sourced from Fiat. On the safety front, Bolt gets the 9th generation ABS by Bosch and Corner Stability Control (CSC) to make your drive safer.

The first in segment touchscreen infotainment system, developed with Harman, gets navigation support from MapMyIndia, with the smartphone based navigation system also provides location based services.

Designed via an active collaboration with the three Tata Motors design studios at Pune, Coventry and Turin, we agree that Bolt is one of the better looking products from the company. Let us see if the car will be able to replicate the success of Zest.

    • Are you joking??

Look at it! . . .its virtually the same design as the zest and the manza . . .. the only thing lamer than T@ta’s designs are the lame names.
