It was the month of July, last year when we shared the surprising news of Isuzu coming to India with the huge MU7 SUV and the D-Max pick-up truck.
Then came the first ever spy photos of the MU7 in October and D-Max’s spy photos in December. Last month we have discussed about Isuzu‘s future plans for India and learnt that the huge Isuzu products were coming soon!
Now, Autocar India reports that Isuzu has reportedly started the process of setting up dealerships in Delhi and Hyderabad and is preparing them for the launch. Meanwhile, the dealerships has also started accepting bookings for both the MU7 SUV and the D-Max pick-up truck. This means the launch of these cars is evidently near.
The MU7 is priced at Rs. 24.16 Lakhs (Ex-showroom, Hyderabad) and the D-Max holds a price tag of Rs. 6.87 Lakhs for the single cab version and Rs.8.09 Lakhs for the double cab version. This is touted to be a test launch where Isuzu will bring both these products as CBUs before they start with their 1500 crore facility in Andhra Pradesh. Its a little unclear what is Isuzu targeting here considering that people do not seem to have much information regarding both these vehicles. There is no official website information which we can dig out as well.
Initially MU-7 doesn’t seem to be a big threat to Fortuner or Pajero Sport. However, the D-Max pick-up looks a luring preposition considering its pricing. Once both these products start building locally, with prices coming down, competitors will get a reason to worry for sure. Let’s wait for sometime and keep a close watch on the segment as the competition is getting tougher than ever!
