Honda India has kick-started their festive season plans by introducing special ‘Celebration Edition’ for the Amaze and Mobilio. While the compact sedan Amaze has been performing pretty decently and has maintained a fairly consistent sales record, their MPV Mobilio has not been in the same league. In fact the car has been on a constant decline and has reached levels of under 1,000 units/month. Hopefully a special edition version will help turn things around a bit.
The Celebration Edition of the Mobilio and Amaze is being offered across all trims but with only the largest selling colours of Taffeta White and Orchid White Pearl. Here are the changes which the company has made:
- New body graphics with emblem to highlight the Celebration Edition tag
- Premium Upholstery which include new seat covers, cushions, steering wheel and floor mats
The engine for the cars remain the same. The 1.2 litre i-VTEC Amaze petrol produces 88 PS of power and 109 Nm of torque while the Mobilio’s 1.5 litre i-VTEC from the City produces 120 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque. The diesel mill in both the cars is the same 1.5 litre i-DTEC Earth Dreams engine producing 100 PS of maximum power and 200 Nm of peak torque.
The goodies included in the Celebration Edition will be sold as a package which can be bought for:
- Honda Amaze: Rs 12,476 and a fitment charge which will be applied over the price of the variant.
- Honda Mobilio: Rs 16,820 and a fitment charge which will be applied over the price of the variant.
The company hopes that these superficial changes will help the brand sell more units. Honda has recently launched the premium hatchback Jazz to fight against the ever rising tide of the Hyundai Elite i20.
