Chevrolet has been having a tough time in India. The lack of new products has been a key reason behind this. The Auto Expo presentation by the US based manufacturer though talked about a more hopeful tomorrow with the showcase of a very interesting concept, the Beat Activ. A car which has been spotted on the roads for the first time.
Spy shots shared by the folks at MotorVikatan reveal a Beat with a camouflaged rear. Building on the present version of the hatchback, the Beat Activ gets extra body cladding and skid plates hidden by the camouflage. The head lamp and tail lamp set up are also expected to carry a fresher design. The test unit though misses out on side body cladding.
The crossover-ish hatchback is expected to be powered by the same 1.2 litre petrol (79 bhp/108 Nm) and 1.0 litre diesel (57 bhp/150 Nm). A slight boost in performance though will be gladly welcomed. In terms of interiors expect a more livelier setup with dual tone dash and upholstery. The motorcycle inspired instrumentation is also set to be retained along with the placement of the rear door handle.
The top end trim can also get a touch screen infotainment system with the usual bells and whistles. The slightly toned down demeanour without missing out on the fun quotient can give a fresh breath of life in the car’s sales.
Apart from the Beat Active, Chevrolet is also working on a compact sedan called Beat Essentia.
