Only a week has passed whenthe Chevrolet Trax made its debut at the Paris Auto Show, and here we have some good news!
The Chinese wing of General Motors have applied for a patent of the same car. This means, GM might launch the Trax Compact SUV in China. As we have already discussed that the Trax is developed on the same platform as the Buick Encore, which is in production in China and made by Shanghai – GM joint venture.
This sharing of platform with the Encore makes us hope that the Trax is likely to be manufactured and sold in China. Powertrain options are not yet clear but the Trax could be powered by a 1.4-Litre and 1.6-Litre engines and could be mated with a 6-Speed manual or automatic transmission. The Trax could be priced 1,70,000 yuan (~ Rs. 14.25 Lakhs) in China.
This Compact-SUV will go on sale in Europe in the year of 2013. So, does this event gives us any sign of this EcoSport rival to India? Fingers crossed!
