While a lot of you (including us) were waiting for the handsome Trax to make way into India, however, quashing all reports of Trax’s possibilities, Autocar has revealed the name of upcoming compact SUV which will be taking the baton in India. It will be called as ‘Adra’.
The point to note is that Adra will be a compact SUV concept and is expected to feature a lot of futuristic design cues and styling bits which are expected to be toned down in the production version. Going by the sketch pic we have here, Adra looks inspired from Sail but is a lot ‘butcher’ and carries Chevrolet’s traditional design theme forward.
According to Autocar, Adra will be equipped by the same 1.3L diesel engine that powers the Sail twins and produces 77bhp of power. Though the petrol engine details are not shared, if it will be present, it is also expected to be the same 1.2L motor.
Looking at what is coming our way, we believe this will be a cost-competitive product and EcoSport is what Chevrolet is targeting. We hope they do not end up with a crossover hatch kind of a confused half-hearted product which is what many companies are limiting themselves to.
Chevrolet, let the product be a mini-Trax with similar bulging lines and capabilities and we have a definite new alternate to the EcoSport which has been marred by insane waiting periods. Launch details and actual product will be revealed only at the Auto Expo.
