So, it gets confirmed! Nissan would launch its trump card in the utility vehicle space in India – Evalia MPV on 26th September.
The launch would take place in Mumbai and Nissan is calling the event as “‘MUSIC’ of Innovation“. According to reports coming in, we feel Nissan would place Evalia a little lower than Innova and this looks like a pretty good strategy to start with.
Evalia is a car which looks more utilitarian van than a personal car like Maruti Ertiga. The two biggest USPs going in favor of Evalia are:
- Immense Space inside
- The famous 1.5L K9K diesel engine
Evalia would inadvertently compete with Toyota Innova, Maruti Ertiga and Mahindra Xylo for the crown of supremacy. If Nissan can pull up Ertiga-like pricing for Evalia, it would ensure many footfalls for sure.
Evalia is a big 7 seater MPV which is also known as NV200 in some markets and is more luxurious than our Indian Ertiga. Internal space is this car’s forte which is a big requirement for buyers of this segment. While the Ertiga looks more ‘car-like’ and Innova more ‘MPV-like’, Evalia looks more of a van with a protruding nose.
We have also caught Evalia near ARAI in Pune back in May. So do you think Evalia would be the car that would ‘do’ it for Nissan? Do share your views in comments section below.
