After Duster, it is Mid-Sized Sedan Scala from Renault, Launch around Diwali

It was the month of March when we shared the about the possibility of the Sunny rebadged Renault Scala to be launched in India. Then, just before the launch of Duster, we got a hint about an upcoming launch by Diwali. Finally, at the eve of Duster‘s launch, Mr. Marc Nassif, MD, Renault, revealed a lot about the future plans of the company. Though, it didn’t reveal anything that clears the name of the upcoming car.

AutoCar India reports that Renault has confirmed the launch of Scala, Renault‘s version of the Sunny, will be launched by Diwali. After getting an overwhelming response pre and post the launch of Duster, the company has decided to speed up the launch process and make it happen a couple of months earlier.

The Scala is mechanically all the same as the Sunny, so it will be powered by the same 1.5-Litre 86 PS/200Nm Diesel mill. As the customers are showing a definite interest towards diesel engine powered cars, it’s not clear yet if Renault will offer the Scala with the 1.5-Litre Petrol engine or not.

However, just like the siblings, Pulse and Micra, Scala and Sunny are also expected to have some cosmetic differences like chrome lining, bumpers and grille. Considering the brand positioning within the Renault – Nissan Alliance, Scala is expected to be priced a little over Sunny.

Renault is also working on a small 800cc car for the Indian market which would lock horns with Nano, Alto and Eon in India.
