Honda BR-V Unveiled at Indonesian Auto Show (GIIAS 2016). Is a 7-seater compact SUV and will rival Duster and Creta. India launch next year.
After its first pics leaked out yesterday, Honda has officially unveiled their all-new BR-V Compact SUV at the ongoing 2015 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). It has been showcased in its ‘prototype’ form which means the company has taken some leeway and may tone down the final production version.
Based on the Brio platform, BR-V sports a more muscular front with broad chrome bars, projector headlamps and sporty bumper which houses chrome-surrounded fog lamps and honeycomb airdam. Moving to the sides, there is a significant resemblance with Mobilio MPV but it gets a raised height and bigger 16 inch wheels.
At the rear, thing are a little different. There is no exposed rear mounted spare wheel. The tail lamps have a dummy connect, but that broad chrome bar at the rear is horrendous! However, with that nice and wide rear glass, we believe, BR-V may offer best in class rear view from inside.
In terms of safety, BR-V gets ABS, EBD, Hill start assist but only two front airbags! It will be powered by the 120 hp, 145 Nm 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol motor in Indonesia which will be mated to a CVT or a new 6-speed manual transmission. It will be priced between the 230 to 265 million rupiah range which converts to about 10.85 Lakhs and 12.5 Lakhs in INR.
Indonesian launch is slated for early 2016 and Honda is expected to showcase BR-V at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, followed by its Indian launch sometime later, obviously along with the 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel engine. BR-V being a 7-seater may find an instant connect against its competition like Duster and Creta!
