Datsun today has launched their third product in the country, the rediGO. Based on the CMF-A platform, the same as that of the Kwid, it is being called as the first ever Urban Cross in the segment. Starting at Rs 2.38 lakhs, it has the potential to really shake up the entry level hatchback territory. Boasting of several first in class features, the car will be available in 5 trims.
Powering the car is the same 0.8 litre three cylinder petrol i SAT mill from the Kwid which churns out 54 PS of maximum power at 5,678 rpm and a peak torque output of 72 Nm at 4,386 rpm. Mated to this is a 5 speed manual gearbox which helps squeeze out a fuel efficiency figure of 25.17 kmpl. It claims a 0 to 100 kmph acceleration time of 15.9 seconds and a top speed of 140 kmph.
In terms of size it is 3,429 mm long, 1,560 mm wide and 1,541 mm high along with a wheelbase of 2,348 mm. The rediGO boasts of a boot space of 222 litres and a best in class ground clearance of 185 mm. In terms of features, the base variant misses out on air con. The power steering though has been included in the mid variant along with front speakers. The mid trim also gets an optional package which gains front power windows, and an audio system.
The top end variant gets daytime running lights and driver side airbag. The tall boy car gets performance augmented brakes which helps it reduce the braking distance. Running costs too have been kept under check with the average maintenance being claimed to be 32 per cent cheaper than the competition.
rediGO gets 2 years/ unlimited kilometer warranty with an optional 2 or 3 year package (with unlimited kilometers). The car will be available in five colours…
