Based on the Common Module Family-A (CMF-A) platform, the same as that of the Kwid, Datsun’s RediGo was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and is set to be targeted at first time car buyers who would be moving to four wheels from scooters and motorcycles. For the first time, Redigo’s front has been snapped by an IndianAutosBlog reader which, though covered in camouflage, gives us a clear idea of how the production variant will look.
So, the good thing is that the RediGo concept and the test unit spotted shows off an almost identical face. Redigo attracted a lot of attention thanks to its wacky design (before Kwid) and its good that Nissan has not played with it too much. The rear too bears a strong resemblance though the tail lamp might not be as curvaceous as the concept.
Set to be placed under the Datsun GO (read review), the RediGo is expected to be launched at the 2016 Auto Expo, exactly after two years. It may be powered by the same 800 cc mill from the Kwid but new rumours suggest that there can be a new petrol engine on offer as well. Along with a manual transmission, AMT gearbox should definitely be on the cards, either at the launch or sometime later.

Along with the Altos and Eons, RediGo will also compete against sibling Kwid (read review) and is expected to be priced even lower than that. We do not rule out a 2.49 Lakh starting price tag for the third Datsun to start selling from day one!
