Diesel Exhaust is Dangerous for Lungs, Reveals WHO

There has always been a debate about Diesel being a harmful fuel. This study conducted by International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a part of

World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that inhaling fumes emitted by Diesel engines is harmful for lungs and a possible cause for lung cancer.

WHO also said that considering this and other health hazards exposure to diesel particulates should be reduced all over the world.

IARC had raised a similar concern back in 1988 by classifying diesel exhaust as ‘probably carcinogenic (cancer producing) to humans’. This revelation comes as a grave concern especially for markets like India which are fast becoming diesel majors.
