XCLUSIVE: D-Max Dual-Cab Pick-Up Spied in Chennai; A True Rival to Xenon!

Isuzu has very recently launched its D-MAX pick-up cabs in India which come in two variants – single cab and Space cab (which has extra space at the rear). However, what they have not offered is a proper Dual cab variant which should make things even more interesting in this segment.

There have been rumors and speculations predicting a D-MAX dual cab launch sometime later and in an exclusive revelation, we share with you the first ever spyshot of Dmax Dual cab from India sent to us by our reader who wishes to be anonymous.

This uncamouflaged test mule was snapped at a breakfast joint at the Chennai Bangalore highway. The double cab variant is already sold in the international markets and will be an interesting product for the Indian market which is slowly maturing up to the concept of pick-up trucks.

The spied test mule seems to be a lower trim, because of the black, plastic front bumpers but thankfully it comes with ‘arched’ rear deck. Overall it looks pretty much similar to the Space cab, except for the obvious addition of openable doors as well as lesser load area.

The interiors, though, cannot be seen in the picture, but our reader reports that they seemed pretty up market. He further informs that unlike the D-Max Space cab, the seats are somewhat straight and not reclined. This must have been done to include the extra row of seats. The seats too seemed to be pretty comfortable, rivaling even the mid-range hatchbacks.

The head room space is also fairly decent as the test driver was apparently a 6-footer and was comfortably seated. The good build quality of the pick-up should be an added benefit which would attract the prospective buyers. Power is expected to come through the same 2.5L 4-cylinder diesel motor capable of churning out 134bhp of power and 249Nm of torque. Considering what we see here, Isuzu may offer it competitively!

Well, all we would like to say right now is, Tata Xenon and Mahindra Getaway, get set to pull up your socks. But for that Isuzu has to make this D-Max Dual Cab available for easy private purchase.
