In an interesting development, an Indianautosblog.com reader has shared a spyshot of a Duster with hidden company logo as well as its 4WD logo which was caught somewhere in Chennai.
All the ingredients of Renault Duster 4WD’s launch in India then? Not really! Let us clarify that Duster 4WD is already being manufactured in India for sometime but unfortunately only for the export markets.
While we can not completely deny that this could be India bound, more so considering the recent speculations of (at least) Terrano getting a 4 wheel drive, possibly.
It is the same 1.5L K9K diesel engine that this 4 wheel drive system is mated to on the Duster and is developed in conjunction with partner Nissan. While there hasn’t been any confirmation from the company on Duster 4 Wheen Drive but considering the demand and the growing competition, Renault may consider launching it here in India.
It should be as easy as ABC for them since they already manufacture it for the export markets and all they need to do will be localize it for our market. The biggest setback for Renault however may be the price tag the 4WD Duster may reach.
Considering that the Duster 110RXZ Option crosses 14 Lakh on road for many cities, the 4WD may be even costlier at around or over 15 Lakhs!
Before you begin to get confused – “Where is the 4WD badge we have been blabbering about?”, Here it is, under the tape!
