EcoSport Gets SYNC With AppLink in India

Ford India has introduced yet another convenience feature – SYNC with AppLink to their largest selling model EcoSport. Available only on the top end Titanium variant, EcoSport is the second car in Ford India’s portfolio after the 2014 Fiesta to get this in-car technology. This will enable customers to conveniently access their favourite smartphone applications via simple voice-commands.

With the ongoing ICC World Cup underway, this will be an interesting feature for all the cricket lovers to get updates from their vehicle easily from ESPN Cricinfo application. Other than this, the mobile phone applications available on Ford AppLink in India include a location-based app ‘explore’ by MapMyIndia and a global, secure location sharing app Glympse.

The addition of these apps will allow customers to get information about their nearest attractions and food destinations among others. The technology dawns a new era for customers to bring their favourite smartphone applications into their vehicles via simple voice commands.

The manufacturer is working with several app partners in India and across the globe to add to this list of Ford AppLink compatible apps. Although still at a very nascent stage, software additions connecting a smartphone and a car with simple voice commands will go a long way in reducing accidents on the roads as the driver can always have eyes on the road and not on the mobile phone.
