Now the Alto K10 has the least number of features with a power steering, air-con, basic music system and front power windows as standard. The Datsun Go has many segment first features like follow-me home headlamps, phone docking station, distance to empty, real time and average mileage display and a digital tachometer.

While Hyundai Eon, which is also the costliest of the lot, gets reasonable equipment list for the extra dough like adjustable steering, keyless entry, internally adjustable rear-view mirrors, audio system with CD and radio player et al. This because Eon 1.0L is available only in the Magna+ trim for now.

The power difference in these three cars is not very vast but the Datsun Go should be better because of its high torque figures, peak power generation at a more usable and low rpm, all thanks to the bigger capacity engine. The Go also looks the best, followed by the Eon and the Alto K10.

The Alto K10 is the lightest of the lot and outsells everything else in the country by a big margin. Hopefully the new Hyundai Eon with a new bigger engine along with the Datsun Go will be able to make a significant impact in this sub-segment.

But even if it happens, Maruti is preparing a comprehensive facelift of the Alto K10 which we have recently busted with exclusive spyshots. You can check them here.
