Maruti Ertiga Manages to Bag 45000 Bookings in Three Months!

It was 12th April when Maruti Suzuki launched the much-awaited MPV, Ertiga. Ever since it was launched, bookings started flooding the dealerships. In the first month Ertiga bagged a whooping 32,000 Bookings! Then its less than three months from the launch, and the number has rose to 45,000. Our old friends at Indian Autos Blog have managed to get a confirmation about the news from Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director, Maruti Suzuki India Limited.

Well, the growth wasn’t the same during all these three months, the possible reasons for that could be the waiting period for the ZDi variant got prolonged due to an alloy wheel shortage issue in Thailand. And increasing price of diesel cars due to Govt. of India Policies, rising prices of petrol, etc. Maruti Suzuki also hinted about a price hike for Ertiga Line-up in early July.

ZDi and VDi variant is the highest to contribute in total number of Ertiga booked. Waiting period for the VDi is currently as long as four to five months and there’s an infinite waiting period for the ZDi variant. Currently Maruti Suzuki has a production capacity of 6,000 per month. However, Maruti Suzuki feels that they will be able to cope up with the increasing demands in the market.

Ertiga is also a hit in the overseas market. Indonesian dealers have started complaining that they are not allotted enough number of cars to meet the market demands. Way to go Ertiga!
