European Honda CR-V Sheds Cover, Available With Diesel Engines [14 Pics]

The production version of the European Market Honda CR-V is here to woo the enthusiasts! This model has sported very little changes when compared to the current North American Model. Despite of having fewer changes, the European CR-V offers a wider range of engine options including petrol and diesel.

Unlike the North American model, the European CR-V comes with Revised Front Bumper, Front LED Daytime Running Lights, Rear LED Lights, Turn indicators housed on Reshaped ORVMs and a Fin-Style Antenna. Along with these changes to the exterior,  the length and height of the car is reduced by 5mm and 30mm respectively while the interior space remains the same. The boot space capacity is increased by 148 Liters. A maximum boot space of 1648 Liters (with the rear seats folded) and a minimum boot space of 589 Liters is available along with a Power Tail Gate.

This fourth generation of CR-V will be offered in Three powerplant options, that includes a 2.0-Litre i-VTEC Petrol, a 2.2-Litre i-DTEC Diesel (same as the previous model) and a brand new 1.6-Litre Turbo Diesel Engine. This is the very first time that the CR-V is being offered with ‘Front-Wheel-Drive-Only’ versions with the 2.0-Litre Petrol and 1.6-Litre Diesel engines.

The power output of the 2.0-Litre i-VTEC is up by 3 HP and stands at 153 HP (155 PS), while Maximum Torque is up by only 2Nm and stands at 192 Nm. Honda claims, along with the Power Upgrades, the CO2 Emissions have also been lowered.

The 2.2-Litre i-DTEC Diesel Engine produces 148 HP (150 PS) and 350 Nm of torque. Honda‘s new 1.6-Litre Turbo Diesel is rated at 118 HP (120 PS) @ 4,000 RPM and 300 Nm @ 2,000 RPM. This new engine will be available from next year.

The new CR-V comes with a revised version of Honda‘s Real Time All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) System. In the previous generation (3rd) of CR-V, this AWD System was equipped with Hydraulically Activated ‘Dual Pump’ System. In case of the new generation (4th), this system is Electronically Activated and responds fasten whenever  loss of traction is detected. The Crossover model will be available with a package of electronic systems such as Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Hill Descent Control (HDC).

This Brand New generation of CR-V will make its debut at the Paris motor Show in September and will go no sale across Europe in the month of October.
