With Fiat launching the Avventura tomorrow, we will finally have a decent looking crossover hatchback in the market. After the disastrous Etios Cross and just about average Cross Polo, the one big question that haunted auto aficionados was -WHY?
But Fiat’s advent in this segment with the Avventura, which gets fairly decent crossover traits, has helped restore our faith in sanity! We have told you exclusively, with a spyshot, that Hyundai is also working on an i20 cross, just today.
Avventura gets the 1.4L Fire petrol engine, producing 90 PS at 6000 rpm and 115 Nm at 4500 rpm. The diesel continues to be the highly popular 1.3L multijet which churns out 93 PS of power at 4000 rpm and 209 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm. All the variants get 16 inch alloy wheels and an increased ground clearance.
Fiat has also added some gimmicky tilt and roll gauge and of course the signature crossover black plastic body cladding. Avventura also gets the tailgate mounted spare wheel with an elegant cover and roof rails, enhancing its crossover looks. Then there is also the presence of projector headlamps.
We expect Avventura to outsell the Punto EVO, the car on which it is based and the Italians are also launching 500 Abarth sometime this year.
