Fiat Officially Says Avventura ‘Coming Soon’!

Fiat India has updated its official website with a quick teaser of the upcoming Avventura. The teaser reads ‘Spice Up Your Urban Life With a Dash of Adventure‘ along with a ‘Coming Soon’ message at the bottom. This signals that the company has come very close to its official launch which should follow the new Punto Facelift which will go on sale next month.

The Italian auto major calls the Avventura a CUV which is an acronym for contemporary urban vehicle (and not crossover utility vehicle), and has put up slots to register for more information as it comes. This usage of direct marketing technique has been adopted by many manufacturers of late.

Fiat showcased the car at the Auto Expo in February and unlike the pseudo crossover hatchbacks you have seen recently, Avventura is a much better attempt. It is easily the most impressive looking crossover hatch that India will get.

In strict sense, Avventura can be called as a Punto with some added ruggedness in the form of larger tyres, higher ground clearance as well as an exposed rear spare wheel. While the car has been spied numerous times with a variety of changes, Fiat has not unveiled the production version of the car yet and hence, the teaser pic at the website appears to be the same concept of the Auto Expo.

Avventura is destined to slug it out against the Volkswagen Cross Polo and the Toyota Etios Cross (why Toyota why?). It is expected to be powered by the 1.3L Multijet diesel engine in possibly the 91PS VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) form. According to the roadmap showcased back in 2012, Avventura is scheduled to only get the 1.4L NA (not the T-Jet) petrol motor from the Linea Classic and Punto, however, we believe there may be the 1.2 on offer as well.

If Fiat does indeed end up selling the car the way the concept looks, with projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights, and the aggressive body cladding it will surely be their best bet yet this year! Pricing is obviously one aspect the company needs to take care of!
