Ford has got a new global CEO, Mark Fields who has taken over Alan Mulally recently. The company’s new Indian plant at Sanand Gujarat is expected to be inaugurated by Fields soon.
The new plant has already begun trial production and will start churning out passenger cars and engines by the end of first quarter of 2015 ie around June. Following this, according to a new report at Business Standard, the company will start launching its new products in India.
The report says, Figo compact sedan will be the first to make an entry here ‘around July’ and will be followed by the new Figo hatchback in another couple of months ‘around September’. Next-Gen Endeavour will end the year with a launch sometime around December.
Ford Cars Expected Launch Time Frames
- New Figo Sedan: July 2015
- New Figo hatch: September 2015
- Next-Gen Endeavour: December 2015
The new Figo twins are based on the Ka cars which are already on sale in Brazil. While the Next-Gen Figo is expected to replace the current car, Figo sedan will be a new entry in the fast moving compact sedan segment which currently has players like Zest, Dzire, Amaze and Xcent.
Figo sedan, in its concept form, officially showcased before the Auto Expo in 2014, looks the best and most rounded product in design in the, otherwise, not so great looking car segment. With an expectation of the car getting the Ford’s acclaimed 1.0L EcoBoost petrol engine with or without the turbocharger, it may end up being the best-to-drive petrol car in this segment.
