At the launch of the new Second-generation Figo, we caught hold of Anurag Mehrotra, Executive Director, Marketing Sales and Service Ford India and posted a few questions regarding their plans. While we will talk about all of that later, let us present to you the update on EcoSport.
Mr Mehrotra confirmed that they definitely have the EcoSport facelift launch planned for India and it may or may not come this year. If it spills over, it will be early next year. What he also confirmed was that the new EcoSport will continue to offer the exposed spare wheel in our market.
With the European model (which is manufactured and exported from India) ditching the external spare wheel, there were apprehensions that our Indian model may follow suit but sense has prevailed.
Now, with the Figo siblings getting the 100 PS diesel motor, it is imperative that the 2016 EcoSport will get a similar or better tune as well along with higher fuel economy. Both the petrol engines – 1.0 Liter EcoBoost and 1.5 Liter TiVCT are also expected to be tuned up for better efficiencies.

Also expect standard airbag(s) from the base variant onwards which has been the case with both the Figo and Aspire recently. With the oncoming competition, we expect a very minor revision in prices, if et all!
