The tale for Ford India has never been a cakewalk. However, the EcoSport and before that the previous generation Figo hatchback have been a saving grace for them. Both the new Figo hatch and the notchback Figo Aspire look great and are wonderful offerings to drive but customers for some reason have failed to shower their love on them.
In fact, as per the folks at Team BHP, the US based manufacturer have been able to sell just 748 units of the Aspire and 710 units of the Figo hatchback. Before this both the cars have been consistently registering sales of more than 1,100 units. The Aspire even recorded 2,400 units in June (the Figo did 1990 units in the same month).
To make the offerings a bit more tempting, Ford has decided to reduce the prices of certain models of the Figo and Aspire. The top end Titanium+ trim of the Aspire, with a petrol engine, used to start at Rs 7.45 lakhs and has been brought down to Rs 6.80 lakhs. While the price of the entry level Ambiente remains the same, Trend sees a drop by Rs 25,000, pulling it down to Rs 5.76 lakhs.
If we talk about diesel, price of the top end trim has been brought down from Rs 8.54 lakhs to Rs 7.89 lakhs. In case of the Trend variant, the previous price tag of Rs 7.10 lakhs has been pulled down to Rs 6.85 lakhs. The hatchback Figo, for the top end petrol variant (Titanium+), sees the price pulled down from Rs 6.58 lakhs to Rs 6.28 lakhs. The Titanium variant sees a drop from Rs 5.94 lakhs to Rs 5.65 lakhs.
In case of the diesel, the Titanium, which earlier used to cost Rs 7.03 lakhs, will now cost you Rs 6.53 lakhs. The Figo in Titanium+ trim has been now priced at Rs 7.17 lakhs with a reduction of Rs 50,000!
