Ford Increasing Eco-Friendly 3-Wet Paint Capacity by 50 percent

Auto major Ford has taken a significant step in order to save our natural sources and to make our environment free of fatal gases. As per the fresh update, the company is expanding eco-friendly 3-Wet Paint technology to its four more plants.

It is notable that the auto major implemented the usage of this eco friendly technology for the first time in 2007. Presently, the 3-Wet Paint technology is being used in eight plants of Ford which are situated in North America, Asia Pacific and Europe.

Taking a step ahead the auto giant is introducing its industry-leading 3-Wet paint process in two plants in U.S, one in Spain and one in China expanding the capacity by 50 percent. In the running plants of Ford, this advanced technology has played a crucial role in reduction of CO2 emissions by 30% and volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions by 10 %. Same figure of reduction in dangerous emissions is being anticipated in its four other plants.

In coming four years, the 3-Wet Paint technology will be implemented in other facilities of Ford worldwide. Director of Manufacturing Engineering, Ford, Bruce Hettle, explained the need of the eco friendly technology and added “The 3-Wet paint process is significantly more advanced than conventional technologies in  applying durable paints in a high-quality, environmentally sound and cost-efficient manner.”

The leading technology saves 20-25 % of process time as it is made up of hi-tech combination of product and process created by Ford and its suppliers which produce the 3-Wet high-solids, solvent-borne paint formulation. It facilitates Ford to offer high quality characteristics matching up the demands of their customers. In India Ford is only car maker to use 3 Wet Paint Technology at its Chennai facility. The energy saved can be used to power and light up around 12,000 houses in the city a year.
