Ford to Launch 8 New Cars in Next 3 Years; EcoSport to be Launched by TN CM Jayalalithaa

It was the Figo that changed the game for Ford in India after a list of not-so-good performing products and a few flops. And now the company says that they are ‘on track’ to launch as many as 8 new models in next 3 years! These 8 models include the much-hyped EcoSport, which will shed its cover in early 2013.

Ecosport would be as important a product for Ford as Figo was. A lot would depend upon this compact SUVs success in India. Considering the hype that surrounds the car till now, it is all set to rock the sales charts provided Ford doesn’t do a pricing blunder like it did with the new Fiesta.

Mr. Jogindar Singh, will take charge as the new President and MD of Ford India from December 1, and will replace Michael Boneham, who was in charge of the Indian wing of Ford for the last five years.

Ford also says that despite the leadership change, the plan would remain same. And the plan is to launch as many as Eight new products in the coming three year and the company is well on target to achieve it.

Ford also has high hopes pinned on the upcoming EcoSport and also reveals that most of the upcoming launches would be in the small car segment.

Mr. Singh also shares that the EcoSport will be launched from the Maraimalai Plant next year and Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa has been invited to grace the launch ceremony. He also confirmed that she has accepted the invitation. Ford India’s another plant in Sanand, Gujarat will commence operations from 2014.

Ecosport’s chief nemesis would be Renault’s Duster which has received an overwhelming response in India.
