Among the most important upcoming launches in India, Honda Brio Amaze definitely holds one of the top spots. Brio Amaze would not only add a new dimension to Honda’s stables but would add up the much needed diesel engine in their portfolio.
If you are unaware still, Brio Amaze is a compact sedan based on Brio hatch and would become the first Honda car in India to carry a diesel heart.
Now, the most important bit here is the price point at which Honda would place its car. Considering that this would be a sub 4 meter car attracting lesser 12% duties than regular sedans, we would expect a competitive tag to the car.
According to an article in Economic Times, the speculated starting price tag of Brio Amaze diesel might just be around Rs 7 Lac. Measuring it against the direct rival Maruti Swift Dzire, these prices are exactly 1 Lac more. Dzire’s ex-showroom price in Delhi is Rs 5.99 for the base LDI diesel version.
Looking at the difference, this might look a little higher than expected but a careful observation would reveal that Honda might have to stick with this tag to accommodate and properly differentiate all the models (current and upcoming) in its lineup. They have to place Brio diesel hatch, Brio Amaze petrol and diesel compact sedan above current Brio petrol hatch and under or around City sedan. We are not even considering Jazz here.
The biggest question then would be: Would people prefer a relatively new diesel engine, with similar specs (expected) at Rs 1 Lac over the most preferred Dzire?
Would YOU?

no,,at this price it will be another jazz for honda..people in india are very price conscious..these guys should learn from maruti about pricing the product..brio is 4.06 for base..it should be at par with dzire to compete it… should be 6 lac for base diesel variant.
Honda never gets the pricing correct. If the diesel version of Amaze starts from 7 lac (i.e. 1 lac more than DZire) then there will be no takers for this car. They did the same mistake with Jazz. Jazz is by far ‘the best’ hatchback to ever hit the Indian roads. However because of its premium price tag it was a disaster.
The latest we hear is that Honda is considering a very competitive price for Amaze..
According to me, it will be just over Dzire…
