MotorBash Busted it, Honda Confirms it: Amaze CNG Coming Soon

Back in October 2014, MotorBash carried out a sneaking bit that Honda is working on a CNG version of their Amaze compact sedan and 5 days later, we substantiated it with some exclusive spy pics of a test mule running around at the Noida Expressway.

And now, in an official communication, Honda’s Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Mr Jnaneswar Sen, has confirmed that the company is “planning to offer a CNG option of the Amaze to our customers shortly.” This announcement was made in the Press Release which was circulated announcing the launch of new top variants of Amaze and Brio.

According to the spotted test mule, we believe Amaze with the CNG option will be offered on the petrol model only. And, unlike the last-gen City which was offered with a dealer fitted CNG option, the Amaze CNG will get a company-fitted CNG kit which will ensure all the standard warranties and services.

Since, the Amaze shares the 1.2L i-VTEC petrol engine with the Brio, there is a good possibility of the company offering the hatchback with the CNG option as well, sometime later.

Amaze CNG may be offered in a couple of variants which are expected to be priced at about Rs 40,000 to 50,000 over the corresponding petrol-only variants. Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki is also preparing a Dzire facelift and Ford will also introduce their next-gen Figo compact sedan in India sometime towards the first half of the year.
