Through a press release, Honda has officially announced the launch of the CNG-ready Amaze at a base price of Rs 5,99,585 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The charge for the CNG kit and installation is Rs 54,315 (CNG Endorsement charges) in addition to the base price.
The CNG version has been made available only in the S trim with a manual transmission and has been named as Amaze 1.2 S MT Plus.
The Honda approved CNG kit will be fitted at Honda dealerships in cities where CNG fuel is available. This new variant has been specially tuned during production so that the car is compatible with the CNG kit. The changes include:
- Optimising the suspension setup to bear the extra weight of the CNG kit
- Application of CNG specific engine components
- Addition of a specially prepared wiring harnesses to maintain standard quality.
The Amaze 1.2 S MT Plus will get the standard two years warranty scheme available to all Honda customers.
Our regular readers would remember that MotorBash was the first website to break this news about Honda’s plans to bring out the CNG version of the Amaze back in October. Honda later officially confirmed the upcoming (then) CNG variant in January when they launched the new top end variants of the Amaze and Brio.
The company believes that the introduction of CNG fuel option on Amaze will increase their customer reach. The bi-fuel option will meet the needs of the customers who are looking for an alternative fuel vehicle for decreasing their running costs.
So far Honda has sold over 1.3 Lakh Amaze in India since its launch in 2013.
