Its a lot happening at Honda’s! Suddenly there seems to be a new energy at their camp. Very recently they launched the Automatic Brio and now we have a potential volume churner – CNG variant of their best selling City sedan.
Honda City CNG
Basically, what Honda has launched is a modified version of their ‘V’ grade City which is CNG-kit ready and the Honda approved CNG kits would be installed only at 45 Honda dealerships across 28 cities where CNG fuel option is available.
This Honda City CNG would carry a 2 year warranty as standard. Honda says that they have ‘optimized’ the current 1.5L i-VTEC engine for bi-fuel usage and the suspension has also undergone modifications to accommodate the weight of the CNG kit. The City V CNG gets ABS, BA (Brake Assist), Dual SRS Airbags, pre-tensioner seat belts. Honda City V modified (for CNG) would cost you Rs 9.54 Lac excluding CNG fitment charges.
Introduction of “Interactive Intelligence” AVN Grade
Along with the CNG City, Honda has also introduced a premium new option City 1.5V Leather with AVN (Audio Visual Navigation). This variant would include features like:
- Touch Screen
- Audio Visual Navigation
- Bluetooth
- DVD player in addition to CD Player
- USB/I-Pod/Aux-in connectivity
- Leather upholstery with Leather wrapped steering wheel and Leather wrapped Gear Shift Knob (in MT)

Adapting the CNG technology is another step to keep low cost of ownership for our customers and will add to the appeal of the car, as it will not only be cheaper to run and maintain but also eco-friendly.”

Honda City, despite not available in diesel, is a hot choice among C-segment sedan buyers and now with the inclusion of a CNG kit, we expect sales to go northwards. However, it is the diesel Brio hatch and Brio saloon which are expected to break all shackles for Honda.
