Honda Sells 50,000+ Amazes Within 7 Months of Launch; Average of Over 7000/Month

Another proof of how eager people were to latch onto a diesel Honda! Honda has crossed the landmark of 50,000 Amaze sedans on the roads in India.

And this we are not talking about bookings! All this comes within a period of around 7 months of the car’s launch in India, equating to an average of over 7100 cars every month. This is a humongous figure considering that Honda’s current production capacity is only 10,000 cars per month.

Obviously, majority of its sales came from the diesel powered Amaze which competes against the likes of Maruti Dzire, Toyota Etios among others. Amaze is Honda’s best received car till date in India and carries on the lovely brand recall Honda has built for its mid-sized cars in India. It gets cleared by this small stat: Over 24,000 non-Honda buyers bought a Honda  in 4 Months!

We have been a fan of the car since the time we drove one. It is a fantastically packaged sub-4 meter car with ample amount of internal space, trunk volume and practicality. It’s 100 horses engine, though may not be an enthusiasts delight, scores on absolutely linear power delivery which helps it in city drives. Many of our readers have reported fuel efficiency figures of around 19-20kmpl in cities and over 23kmpl on highways reflecting the technical expertise the car has been built with!

In various cities of India, bookings of Amaze are in full-swing which equates to many months of waiting periods. And that’s not all, Honda has plans to launch next-gen City in India which will come with diesel powered VGT version of the same mill pretty soon. So, how many of you are a part of this 50,000 figure…?
