Honda is really taking the game ahead in almost all segments it has its eyes set on! They have as many as at least 4 new cars waiting to hit our roads in 2014 and 2015 and all of them can be called as ‘game-changers’ in their respective segments.
The first to come out of their stables is the much awaited New City which is scheduled for a January 2014 launch. Following City, will be Mobilio MPV which is gunning for Maruti’s Ertiga and appears to have all it takes to walk away with the crown. Launch is expected in June 2014.
After Mobilio, Honda will usher in the fabulous looking Next-Gen Jazz into our markets towards the second half of the year. And for all of you compact SUV fans, things get more interesting after that. Its the Vezel compact SUV that will make its entry into our markets.
According to IBN Live, Honda may launch Vezel in India by the end of 2014 or early 2015. Considering that each product is as important as the other and keeping Honda’s limited production capacities, even after their new Tapukara plant goes operational in 2014, we believe it is only in 2015, Honda will get a chance and time to launch Vezel in India.
Vezel is the production version of the Urban SUV Concept Honda showcased a while back. It will be Honda’s grand entry in the compact SUV segment against rivals like Duster and Terrano. However, what gets cleared is that it may not be a sub 4 meter car and will definitely come with the 1.5L diesel engine; petrol is a given being a Honda!
We also get a feeling that Vezel will be a more upmarket product and may dawn a higher price tag as well, possibly reaching out at a maximum of 16 odd lakhs for the top of the line diesel on road. And being a softroader it is intended to be, we do not expect a 4 wheel drive either for now.
