Huracan Drops the Top; Spyder Variant Launched!

Lamborghini, the Italian sports car maker, has launched the Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder in India for 3.89 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car aims to combine the performance of the Huracan coupe with the glamour associated with open air driving. It replaces the brand’s best selling open top model, the Gallardo Spyder and has a lot to live up to.

In line with their design philosophy of ‘form follows function’, the Huracan Spyder will be embedded in your mind long after the car has zoomed past you! Oh yes, that it will do pretty quickly. How fast you ask? It can hit 100 kmph from standstill in 3.4 s (0.2 s slower than the coupe) and has a top speed of 324 kmph.

Making this possible is as a naturally aspirated monster of an engine. This 5.2 litre V10 mill churns out 610 PS of maximum power at 8,250 rpm and 560 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. Transmission is overseen by a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox. The dry weight though has increased to 1,542 kilos, which is a gain of 120 kg.

The car gets cylinder on demand, start/stop function and a new all-wheel drive system seen in the 2016 Huracan. However, this is not why the car is the talk of the town. What it wants to show off to you is its brand new soft top. Available in three colours (black, brown and red), the Huracan Spyder maintains perfect center of gravity, revealing the athletic and equally powerful lines of the open car. The lightweight soft top fits perfectly into the Spyder’s silhouette while up, and when down, it is hidden away into the most efficient manner possible.

The new electrohydraulic, lightweight soft top opens via a button positioned on the central tunnel, in just 17 second up to a speed of 50 kmph.

Okay now stop drooling!
