Hyundai India’s long awaited compact SUV, Creta, has started reaching dealerships ahead of its July end launch. Images of the SUV have come up in a forum TheAutomotiveIndia.com where a member claims that the snaps were taken when a dealer was shifting the stock to his yard.
The SUV in all its glory is Hyundai’s competition against the Renault Duster and Maruti’s upcoming S-Cross. Expected to launch on July 21, the Creta, which will also be the first automatic diesel SUV in the segment will miss out on a four wheel drive version.
Engines are the same as that of their mid-size sedan Verna. The petrol being the 1.6 litre dual VTVT unit while diesel getting two trims. The 1.4 litre U2 CRDi engine will be mated with just a manual gearbox while the 1.6 litre U2 CDRi unit will get a manual as well as an automatic transmission option.
Designed on the familiar Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy, Creta claims to have a strong body structure made of high tensile steel. It also gets a set of 6 airbags which (include side and curtain airbags), ABS, ESC and reverse parking camera.
Bookings for the Creta have already commenced unofficially at various dealerships and we expect the SUV to be priced between Rs 7.5lakhs to Rs 11 lakhs.
