Hyundai launched their Grand i10 in India over the older i10 in September 2013 and the results are just overwhelming. Within 10 months of the car going on sale, Hyundai has delivered as many as 1 Lakh cars to its customers.
This equates to about 10,000 deliveries per month on an average. Grand i10 has been among country’s top five selling cars month on month from the second month itself. This, Hyundai claims, is the fastest for any manufacturer ever in the compact car segment. We do not know what cars have they included in the ‘compact’ segment but there are cars which have sold even higher.
Nonetheless, Grand i10 has been a remarkable success for Hyundai and has received numerous awards like Car of the Year from various publications among others.
Grand i10’s sibling and recently launched Xcent compact sedan is also an impressive seller for the company adding many thousand units every month to the complete tally. Both Grand i10 and Xcent are offered with the 1.2L petrol engine and the new 1.1L U2 CRDi diesel engine, in different tunes.
Grand i10’s petrol range starts at Rs 4.29 Lakhs and its diesel range begins from Rs 5.23 Lakhs ex-showroom Delhi.Very recently Hyundai has launched the (Grand) i10 Sport in Germany which looks visually fantastic (above). We wish Hyundai considers something on the same lines for India when it plans to launch some new special editions.
