Hyundai Readies the 2014 Verna/Accent

Hyundai has revealed the 2014 Verna (Accent as it is known in the US) and it has been done up giving it a few nip-tuck jobs here and there. Interiors also feature some more equipment coming in as standard fitment.

The fluidic Verna with its sleek and sporty look has always been well received and has been keeping the sales department happy at Hyundai. Now with its mid-life tuck-and-lift, it is expected to bring in some freshness and more sales.

The 2014 Verna now has one-touch triple turn signals and the audio system has been updated for improved voice recognition. The buttons on the infotainment unit have also been configured for a better ergonomic experience. Also standard are now sliding sun visors and driver’s blind spot mirror. The Verna SE and four-door Premium Package models will now feature new projector headlights with LED accents and a headlamp welcome/escort function. The driver’s side window will have an auto-up function and the steering wheel now has tilt-and-telescopic adjustments. The SE model will also come with an option of having a B&M Racing “short shifter” for a sportier driving experience.

Hyundai India has already launched an updated Verna which carries projector headlamps, LEDs, restyled alloys etc. However, it also comes with a few slashes like no middle row headrests, non-alloy spare wheel and the biggest of them all- removal of side curtain aribags (unofficial)!

With the competition (read Next-Gen Honda City) all set to ravel very soon, we do expect Hyundai India to shoot in a few features and launch an ‘officially’ updated Verna in the Indian market as well. And if you are unaware, Hyundai is also preparing a sub-Verna, sub-4 meter compact sedan based on Grand i10 to join the ranks very soon. (Read its details here)
