Shortly after its official unveiling a few days back, in an official communication, Hyundai has asked us to block our dates on September 3! The reason is the official launch of Hyundai Grand i10.
The national launch will take place in New Delhi on Tuesday and launch details will be shared with us shortly. Ironically, the launch date coincides with the BMW’s entry level 1-Series.
Grand i10 is Hyundai’s new compact hatchback which will exist alongside the current i10. Grand i10 will sit in the small gap between the current i10 and i20. And since this gap is very narrow, we feel Hyundai will widen it by reducing the current i10’s offerings.
Purely as a speculation from our side, Hyundai might take the current 1.2L Kappa2 engine away from the current i10 and reduce the number of offerings to only the 1.1L petrol engine.
However, why is the Grand i10 a very big talk of the town, is the reason of inclusion of a diesel motor. Grand i10 will come with a 1.1L diesel motor which will be Hyundai’s smallest yet in India. Grand i10 is a bigger car than the current i10 and will be a competition to Swift and others in this segment.
According to our calculations, Hyundai Grand i10 petrol may start at Rs 4-4.25 Lakh and diesel at 5-5.25 Lakh ex-showroom.
