Hyundai to Launch New Tucson in India [Speculation]

So, let us analyze! The recent rage Creta has a starting ex-showroom Delhi price of Rs 8.69 lakhs and goes up all the way to Rs 13.80 lakhs for the top of the line trim. The next SUV/Crossover for Hyundai is the Santa Fe which starts at Rs 27.09 lakhs and spans across till Rs 30.41 lakhs (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi). What’s even more surprising is the fact that the only 4WD Hyundai you can buy at the moment is the top end Santa Fe which costs over 30 Lakhs!

So, this presents a very wide gap in the portfolio which Hyundai has plans to plug and thankfully, its not just the cosmetically enhanced versions of Creta they are banking on. As per a report on Autocar India, Hyundai, the country’s second largest selling auto maker, will be launching the third generation Tucson (pronounced as too′sän′ and NOT Tuk-son!) in India soon.

Tucson in its latest form was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and carries a bigger hexagonal grille. Unlike the Creta, Tucson gets a rather curvaceous body. Engine options in diesel includes a 1.7 litre motor and a bigger 2.0 litre mill.

The report further adds that Tucson will be brought to India via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route, with an expected asking price of around Rs 18 lakhs. We are not sure if we like the looks of it and it remains to be seen if Hyundai can be second time lucky with the Tucson in India!
