In Mumbai & Delhi, CNG Variants Comprise of 50% of WagonR & Ertiga Sales

The country’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki, has sold 62,996 units of factory fitted CNG vehicles in the recently concluded financial year 2014-15. This marks a growth of 23 per cent over their last year’s sales of CNG vehicles. The contribution of CNG vehicles in the financial year 2013-14 consisted of 4.9 per cent of the total sales while the last fiscal saw it rise to 5.4 per cent.

Being the first company to sell factory fitted CNG cars in India staring from 2010, they claim best in class fuel efficiency thanks to their Intelligent Gas Port Injection (i-GPi) technology. i-GPi equipment also helps them set a benchmark in terms of safety, reliability and performance. Working on Dual Engine Control Unit (ECU), it delivers a controlled amount of gas to the engine, helping in delivering a consistent performance in different driving conditions. Based on the inputs from the ECU, optimum CNG quantity is injected to the engine through gas ports.

Maruti’s CNG Cars

Maruti Suzuki offers six dual fuel (CNG+Petrol) models which includes Alto, Alto K-10, Celerio, Wagon R, Eeco and Ertiga. Interestingly, Maruti reveals that for Delhi and Mumbai, CNG-Powered Ertiga, WagonR and Eeco constitute about 50 percent of their respective sales.
