Innova Crysta Specs reveal engine options, variants & other details…

Update:

The Innova Crysta is back in the news. With its brochure images being leaked by the folks at TeamBHP. The literature claims that the new generation model brings with it several first in class features. These include:

  • 7 airbags
  • Vehicle stability control
  • Hill start assist control
  • LED projector head lamps
  • Driving modes (eco and power)
  • Automatic climate control and rear auto air con
  • One touch tumble and space up rear seats
  • Easy close tailgate
  • Easy slide front passenger seat

The driver seat can be electronically adjusted in 8 different ways, while the 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system (with navigation) will be a boon during long drives. The leaked brochure also confirms the new GD diesel mill. It even mentions the new 6 speed automatic transmission with sequential shift.

With the launch date approaching fast, details of the new Innova Crysta have started coming up on the internet. This time the specifications of the engine options have been revealed thanks an image shared by a TeamBHP member.

The MPV will be getting the bigger capacity 2.8 litre mill along with a smaller 2.4 litre mill – both all new and will be introduced first time in India. No petrol engine is seen so it may possibly not be on offer, at least initially. The Japanese manufacturer will also be providing an automatic gearbox on the new Innova Crysta, something which hundreds of existing customers have cringed for a long time now.

The MPV will be available in three variants, viz GX, VX and ZX. While the 6 speed automatic gearbox will be available in the top end, they will also be offering it in the base GX trim. The rest of the models will be mated to a 5 speed manual unit. The 2.4 litre unit produces 149 PS of power and 343 Nm of torque which is significantly higher than the 102 PS/200 Nm output of the present generation 2.5 litre mill.

The larger 2.8 litre engine will be producing 174 PS of maximum power and 360 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines will be Euro 5 compliant (the present Innova can still be bought with a BS3 compliant engine!).

To me, Innova Crysta appears to be an MPV which will break all current records of sales (and unjustified pricing).
