Jaguar informs us that their XE sedan has been named as the Most Beautiful Car of the year 2014 at Festival Automobile International in Paris. The car’s design director Ian Callum was presented the award in front of nearly 600 VIPs at the thirtieth edition of the festival.
The car was showcased there along with the Jaguar Project 7 and 18 other concept cars at the concept car exposition section.
The award was decided by a public vote, with more than 1,00,000 votes cast by people from across 59 countries. Jaguar XE took victory with 28 per cent of the votes by beating some highly respectable competition offered by the likes of the Mazda MX-5, Mercedes C Class Estate and Fiat 500X. The exposition is expected to have received a visitor footfall of over 40,000 people.
This award is not the first French recognition for the Jaguar XE since its showcase in the Paris Motor Show in October 2014. Earlier it was crowned as the best production car by Auto Plus magazine and French Radio Station RTL.
The XE is now available for pre-order in the United Kingdom with an on-road price of 26,995 British Pound Sterling (around Rs 25 lakhs). The car is expected to launch in India at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi.
