Transmission is overlooked by an 8 speed auto unit with paddle shifters. With launch control, the SRT is capable of hitting the ton in 5 second flat… that’s really impressive considering its mass.

To talk about the goodies, it gets a Quadra-Trac full-time Active-on-Demand 4WD system linked to a five-mode Selec-Track system. Boosting the driveability are high performance adaptive suspension system and Brembo brakes with large, multiple-piston rotors.

Jeep targets to have 10 outlets, spread in 9 cities, by the end of this calendar year. The first outlet is now operational at Ahmedabad while the ones in New Delhi and Chennai will open doors by September. The financial capital Mumbai will have a dealership by October followed by a second one in Delhi before Diwali. Following this, Jeep plans to venture into Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Kochi and Bangalore.

So, here we are with the iconic Jeep finally in India but with a big question mark on its innings. Somebody needs to pacify the guy who came up with such mind-boggling prices, which has led to a few guys cancelling the very thought of buying a Jeep. Do you know anybody who, in all his senses, is going ahead and booking one at these prices…?
