Kevin Flynn is New President & MD of Fiat India; Still No Reason for Nagesh’s Sudden Exit

A few weeks back Nagesh Basavanhalli, the former MD of Fiat abruptly quit the helms of the company without sharing a reason and the new official communication from Fiat also does not answer any questions.

Even though they make some of the best looking cars in the segment, they have been terrible under-performers in terms of sales. To give you a perspective, their latest launch Avventura, which sold 183 units in December 2014, is promoted as the largest selling Fiat model of late.

Flynn’s three decades of automotive experience last saw him as the Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa. At Fiat, apart from managing Fiat India cars, he would also be heading the brands which will soon be launched in the country (Would Jeep be finally making its way to India now?). They would also be introducing the Abarth brand this year under him. His role will also see him responsible for management of service, parts and customer care across more than 132 dealerships in 98 cities across the country.
