Kicks, Nissan’s Creta Rival, Officially Revealed

Nissan Kicks is expected to begin selling from January 2019…

Nissan Kicks was finally revealed today. After a long hiatus, Nissan is back with a product which can be a winner for the Japanese giant in India. Once launched, the car will mainly compete against the very successful Hyundai Creta in our market.

On the unveiling of the new Kicks, Thomas Kuehl, President, Nissan India Operations said, “We are excited and proud to unveil the engaging and provocative design of the NEW KICKS. Nissan is committed to India and we are building the foundations to succeed. The NEW Nissan KICKS is a testimony of our commitment to India. With a progressive SUV design and advanced technology, it is bound to appeal the new age urban adventure seeker. As a part of the India Strategy, Nissan will bring the best of global Nissan products and technology to our customers in India.”

Nissan Kicks Indian Vs International

By the look of it, the Indian Kicks appears very different from the International one (pictured below in orange colour). The Indian version sits high above the ground and has a butch look. And, this actually is a good thing as the international version looks more of a hatchback than an SUV. The overall design language of the car is similar to the international version with some subtle changes which make it more SUVish.

The wheel arches of the Indian version appear to be much larger and the body of the car appears to sit on the wheels rather than the wheels sitting inside it. The front bumper is completely re-designed and the position of the foglamps is at the extreme bottom portion. Even the rear bumpers are all new and are more part of the body than protruding outside. The glass area on the car, though having the same shape as the international one, appears to be lesser than the metallic area. All this make the car more “SUV”. This is enhanced further by new roof rails which are very different from the international version. The headlight units of the car are also sleeker than the overseas model. All in all, the car looks much sharper and muscular than the international one.

The looks definitely is a step in the right direction.
