Kwid to Get Bigger 1.0 Liter Engine as Well, with AMT

Post the super-successful Duster, Renault India has not really been able to get more hits in India. However they aim to change that with their upcoming entry level hatchback, the Kwid! Kwid was officially unveiled recently and will be launched by this year’s festive season.

Kwid hasn’t been any less than a revelation in terms of initial interests because of a fantastic muscular design which can easily be called as the first A-segment micro-SUV. In an update, apart from the 800cc petrol motor which is known, Kwid will also come with a bigger 1.0 liter petrol motor informs Autocar India.

The report further adds that the new 1.0 litre engine will also be mated to an AMT gearbox which the French automaker is developing indigenously.

Kwid is built on the CMF-A platform which will also be the building block of Datsun’s RediGo which is also scheduled for early 2016 launch. The company is aiming for high levels of localisation to keep the car cheap and have confirmed that it will cost between 3-4 Lakhs!
