Fiat has officially confirmed the launch of Punto Abarth sometime in October along with its sizzling 145 bhp power output from the 1.4 liter T-Jet motor. But how quick will it be with all the added fire..?
A leaked spec sheet by Team Fiat Moto Club has revealed that Punto Abarth will scorch to 100 kmph from naught in 8.8 seconds flat. And if that doesn’t sound ‘fast’, comparison with other hatchbacks will. For reference, this is almost twice as quick as Elite i20 and Polo – both petrol models. The closest, as one can expect, is the Volkswagen’s turbocharged 1.2 liter GTI which lags by 2.4 seconds.
Punto Abarth will churn out 212 Nm of peak torque and the sheet says it will be available in white and black colors.. But wait a minute.. what happens to the grey-orange shade which was showcased at BIC during the launch of 595 Competizione? You can check its preview along with 20 droolworthy pics here.
The car will come with 16 inch Scorpion alloy wheels, all four disc brakes, aluminum race pedals, electric boot and a ground clearance of 155 mm.
It further suggests that there will be heavy Abarth stickering on the production models including a big scorpion decal on the roof. Fiat has already confirmed that Punto Abarth will carry heavy localization and prices are expected to be slightly under or around the Rs 10 Lakh mark, making it the first affordable ‘Real Hot Hatch’!
