So, for long Hyundai Verna has enjoyed the top honours in the very competitive premium C-Segment in India. It has been the largest selling car of late and by a significant margin.
We have almost every major manufacturer slugging it out in this segment and currently, we have the following cars which compete with each other:
- Fiat Linea
- Ford Fiesta
- Hyundai Verna
- Maruti SX4:
- Skoda Rapid
- Volkswagen Vento
And joining this bandwagon is a list of real interesting All-new models and facelifts which are slated to change the dynamics and the pressure is on the segment leader, Verna.
And if you have been waiting to buy one here is a list of all what is coming to our shores in competition along with their launch periods.
1. All-New Honda City: Launch on 7th January
Possibly the most awaited and the biggest threat to Verna’s supremacy is Honda’s All-New City which has already been unveiled in India and will go on sale from 07th of January. For the first time ever, it will come with the 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine along with the 1.5L petrol engine.
Its variants and all details have been leaked and you can check them here.
2. 2014 Fiat Linea Facelift: Launch Early 2014
We broke the first ever spyshots of the new Linea facelift on 13th August 2013. Since then, it has been caught tons of times and we have many new details spilled over. The most luring bit about the new Linea is that it will debut the 1.6L Multijet diesel engine in India and will also sport the 1.4L turbocharged petrol motor.
3. ‘YL1’ New Maruti SX4 Replacement Sedan: Launch End 2014
Codenamed as ‘YL1’, Maruti Suzuki is testing their premium C segment sedan for a show at the market. SX4 has not turned out to be a real volume churner for the company and the YL1 sedan appears to be a step in the right direction. It is expected to be powered by the Ertiga’s 1.4L petrol engine and the same 1.3L DDIS motor.
As was the case with SX4, ‘YL1’ looks larger than the segment standards and comes with much better interiors and striking exteriors as the spyshots speak.
4. 2014 Ford Fiesta Facelift: Launch First Half of 2014
After a dismal show of the new Fiesta in India, Ford is preparing the facelifted Fiesta for our market. It is expected to continue with the same 1.5L petrol and diesel engines which is a sort of a disappointment considering that the 1.0L Ecoboost is dearly expected.
The Fiesta facelift appears a lot Aston Martin-ish in looks and carries significant design changes. What is interesting to note is that the car is speculated to carry a striking tag of something around 7 lakhs.
