Locally Produced Jaguar XJ Finally Launched at Rs 92 Lakhs

Jaguar’s ethereal beauty, the locally produced XJ premium sedan has been finally launched in India. This announcement comes in around a month after the media was informed about it.

It will be locally assembled at the Pune facility which will aid in reducing the prices to make it more competitive against the German rivals. This is the JRL group’s third car to be locally assembled in India after the Jaguar XF sedan and Land Rover Freelander SUV. This allows for a sharp price drop of good 24 lakhs, making it an interesting option in the flagship luxury sedan range.

New Jaguar XJ Features:

Despite the lesser price, the feature list has grown and includes:

  • increased headroom
  • electric rear side window blinds
  • LED reading lights
  • 25.9cm (10.2inches) rear screens (rear seat entertainment system)
  • new rear business table
  • three massage seat functions

New Jaguar XJ Price:

The car is available in two trims:

  • Jaguar XJ 3.0 Diesel Premium Luxury for Rs 92.10 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai)
  • Jaguar XJ 3.0 Diesel Portfolio for Rs 98.69 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai)

The 2993cc six cylinder diesel mill produces 202PS of power @4000rpm and 600Nm of torque @2000rpm!!! Yes, the torque figure nails it. The 8 speed automatic transmission propels the car to a 100kmph in 6.4s which is impressive for a car that nearly weighs 2 tonnes.

Well, the Germans may be sharper looking and may be selling more at this point, but the traditional British flair is irreplaceable and has a feeling of a different world altogether. The UV filtered panoramic sunroof offers a brilliantly well-lit cabin, possibly the best feature in the car.

The flagship Jaguar car faces stiff competition against the locally built Mercedes Benz S Class and the Audi A8, both of which have been recently updated.
