Land Rover has completed five years in India and to celebrate the occasion the company has launched a special edition of the Freelander 2. Called the Sterling Edition, this new Freelander 2 is priced at INR 44.41 lakh (Ex-showroom Mumbai, Pre Octroi) and comes with a few changes on the outside to differentiate it from the regular Freelander 2.
New Freelander 2 Sterling Edition Features:
The Freelander 2 Sterling Edition gets…
- 17-inch five-split-spoke alloy wheels with anthracite finish
- dark atlas grille
- dark atlas fender and side vents
- tailgate spoiler
- front and rear apron
- lower door claddings
- single tail pipe with bright finish
The upgrades look good on the White Freelander 2 image that we have got from Land Rover, though we believe that the Sterling Edition would look menacing in Black, with these changes. The press release does not tell us whether the Sterling Edition gets any differentiating or extra features on the inside too.
However, there are no changes under the bonnet and this variant continues to be powered by the same 2.2-litre diesel engine that powers the other variants of the Freelander 2. It produces 150 bhp and 400 Nm of torque while a six-speed automatic transmission comes standard across all variants.
Land Rover also tells us that this is a limited edition and will be available only in limited numbers. However, the quantity, again, has not been disclosed. We believe, they will offer it till there is demand. This five-seater Land Rover competes with the Volvo XC60, BMW X3, and the Audi Q5 in India.
