Mahindra seems to be working on a higher than expected price tag for its upcoming compact SUV, Quanto which is based on MUV Xylo.
In its last edition, Autocar reported that Quanto might start from as low as 4.5 Lakh. But in a new report, they have predicted that Quanto would come at a higher price than expected. Base variant of Quanto might start from 6 Lakh INR and the top fully loaded variant could go upto Rs 7.5 Lakh.
The reasons for higher price tag are said to be the body-on-frame construction and the resulting higher material costs. Mahindra Quanto would be launched during the second half of September and is expected to carry good equipment list to bring the value preposition.
There is a confusion over Quanto’s engine specs. What is confirmed is the engine size which is 1.5L 3 cylinder mill. According to a leaked document news of an output of as high as 100bhp are all over the internet. But, we feel Mahindra would not lend Quanto with such high power-tuned engine which would lead to big cannibalization with its sibling Bolero which produces 64PS of power output.
